Recovery Destination panel
On thepanel, you can configure the transport mode and the recovery destination parameters.
The host that performs the restore. If not specified, NetBackup uses the backup host value from the backup image.
You can use this option to select a media server that has access to the storage unit that contains the backup image. An example of such an environment is a Media Server Deduplication Pool (MSDP) with multiple media servers. Note: If the storage unit that contains the backup image is not shared with multiple media servers, this option is grayed out.
The transport modes to use for the restore. Select the wanted transport modes and move them so they are in the wanted order. If all methods fail, the restore fails.
By default, the wizard displays the transport mode combination and the order that were used for the backup.
The destination VM for the restore, as follows:
. NetBackup restores the selected disks to the VM from which they were backed up.
You can select whether to overwrite the existing virtual disks on thepanel.
. NetBackup restores the selected disks to a different VM than the original.
. NetBackup creates a new virtual machine and restores the selected disks to the new VM. The new VM is intended to be a container for the restored disks. It does not have enough resources to run most operating systems. After the restore, you should attach the restored virtual disks to a VM that can support them and then delete the temporary VM.
The following items describe the advanced restore options:
. Whether to delete the temporary VM if the disk attach operation fails. If you select and the disks are not successfully attached to the target VM, you can access the data on the temporary VM.
. The restore process shuts down the target virtual machine before it attaches the disk or disks. The duration of the shutdown operation depends on the VMware workload. Use this parameter to specify how long the restore process should wait for shutdown before giving up on restore.
