Resolving a NetBackup Administration operations failure on Windows
When a user who is part of the Administrator's group tries to execute some NetBackup operations, the operation may fail with the following error, where command is a NetBackup administrator command:
command: terminating - cannot open debug file: Permission denied (13)
When the Security Setting of the User Account Control: Run All Administrators in Admin Approval Mode policy on Windows is Enabled, a user has limited permissions. The user from the Administrator's group is not allowed to manage NetBackup.
Disable this security setting through: Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Local Security Policy > Local Policies > Security Options > User Account Control: Run All administrators in Admin Approval Mode > Disable.
Once the security setting is disabled, the user can successfully perform NetBackup operations.
