About the NetBackup Virtual Appliance master server role

In this role, the NetBackup Virtual Appliance operates as dedicated NetBackup master server. You configure and use this appliance much like you would use a regular NetBackup master server with no attached storage.

This appliance role provides a simplified administrative interface for the local network and storage management. However, the majority of NetBackup administration such as backup management must be performed through the traditional NetBackup Administration Console.
