Limitations for Amazon S3 in Information Governance

  • Amazon S3 Outposts storage class is not supported

  • Amazon S3 only shares Last Modified time with Information Governance so while creating a new path in Information Governance, Creation and Access time is updated as per the last modified time.

  • The CREATE event will be sent as WRITE event by Amazon S3. To resolve this issue, Information Governance will treat first WRITE event as CREATE event and display the information accordingly.

    Note:

    This is applicable only after first full scan of the bucket. If WRITE event occurs before that, first event will be treated as WRITE

  • Amazon S3 does not share audits for Archive action. As a result, paths are not getting submitted for incremental scan and storage tier and other information remains outdated. This will be resolved in next full scan.

  • Permissions are not supported.

  • Workflows are not supported.

  • If multi-part download is enabled, Amazon creates multiple Read events for the same file. In such scenarios, there will be some discrepancies regarding Read events in Information Governance.

  • The information risk score is not calculated by adding Open, Sensitive, and Active information.
