About configuring FPolicy in Cluster-Mode
FPolicy is a file access notification framework which allows screening of NFS and CIFS accesses.
In case of a Cluster-Mode configuration, FPolicy requires that all the nodes in the NetApp cluster are running Data ONTAP 8.2 or later.
To receive access events from the ONTAP cluster, you must first install the DataInsightFPolicyCMod service on the Information Governance Collector node that is configured to monitor the NetApp cluster. The service communicates with the NetApp cluster and fetches information about the file operations that Information Governance monitors. Information Governance automatically configures the list of operations to monitor when you add the NetApp cluster to Information Governance. However, you can also choose to configure the operations to be monitored manually.
As per the NetApp guidelines, policy name should be less than 30 characters while configuring NetApp Cluster-Mode policy on the collector node.
Note:
The FPolicy server for a NetApp standalone (7-mode) configuration and C-Mode configuration can co-exist on the same Information Governance Collector node.
For detailed information about the DataInsightFPolicyCmod service, see the Arctera Insight Information Governance Installation Guide.
See Preparing Information Governance for FPolicy in NetApp Cluster-Mode.
