Privileges of aptare_ro user reduced to avoid a security vulnerability

Unnecessary privileges from aptare_ro user have been removed due to security vulnerability. Most of the changes are seamless to the users. The important change is removal of the DUAL privilege from aptare_ro user and creation of a new view, apt_v_dual, is used instead of DUAL. Due to this change, certain new steps will have to be followed while creating RTD reports or importaing some existing RTD reports.

The respective impact on upgrade and fresh installation of NetBackup IT Analytics is discussed below.

Upgrade

During upgrade, all the unnecessary privileges to aptare_ro user will be removed automatically. Any user-defined, non-shipped reports created in the user environment using DUAL will be converted to use the apt_v_dual view.

Changes to be followed:

  1. Instead of using DUAL, use apt_v_dual as an alternative approach when writing a new RTD report.

  2. Customize any reports imported after the upgrade and modify any occurrence of DUAL in the query to apt_v_dual for the report to work normally as before.

Fresh installation

Customize any report that is imported after a fresh installation by modifying any occurrence of DUAL to apt_v_dual for the report to work normally.
