As Team Veritas celebrates the 50th anniversary of Earth Month, we’re focused on how our actions today shape the world for generations to come. It's not just about reducing waste or conserving energy – it’s about reimagining our roles as stewards of this beautiful planet.

With this in mind, Veritas has embraced the theme “Eat, Play, Work” as a call to integrate sustainability into every facet of our lives. Our choices at the dining table, our leisure activities, and our professional endeavors all contribute to our planet's well-being. It's not just about one day — it's about a continuous commitment toward a sustainable world.

This Earth Day let's pledge to educate ourselves about sustainable practices. Every small step counts, so let's eat wisely, play responsibly, and work sustainably.

Here are just a few examples of how Team Veritas is putting into action our Earth Month theme:

“Recognizing the evident impacts of climate change, I prioritize understanding the consequences of actions. Working in the tech industry, I'm mindful of its carbon footprint and strive to be a catalyst for change.”

Estelle advocates for informed eating choices and shares that understanding the environmental impact of our food selections is crucial. She wants individuals to make mindful decisions that foster sustainable eating habits. If your preferred meal choice is a burger …enjoy! However, consider factors like antibiotic use in meat production and the carbon footprint of food transportation. Estelle is also passionate about reducing plastic use. She makes a conscious effort to use reusable bags at the market, and avoid foods packaged with plastic. She adds that plastic can cause environmental harm by ending up in the ocean... which, in turn, can impact marine ecosystems. If the marine life is impacted by plastic consumption, people are also in harm’s way if they consume seafood products affected by this.

I am proactively working to decrease my carbon footprint where possible because it all adds up. From recycling plastics, composting food, and making my house more energy efficient.”

Renewals Inside Sales Rep Aaron Corr is located in the beautiful but rainy countryside of Ireland. Aaron didn’t let the dreary weather deter him from looking into solar panels for his home. Thanks to solar, his family has cut two-thirds of the energy consumption from what his home pulls from the electricity grid. In addition, the solar heats his home’s water, and, as a result, for most of the year they never have to use gas central heating for hot showers in their household, which has saved the equivalent of 2.23 tons of CO2 since the installation. Aaron says he tries to take any steps he can to do better and decrease his own carbon footprint where possible in the hope that every little bit adds up. From recycling plastics, composting food, and making his house more energy efficient.

As an avid gardener, I'm keenly aware of the quality of the environment! Poor air quality, polluted soil and water, and excessive heat all ruin yields and contaminate what you harvest. I strongly encourage others to use their natural resources and to limit themselves to only what is needed."

Kevin Sambdman is a Principal Product Manager at Veritas and an active gardener. Gardening is actually what made Kevin keenly aware of the quality of the environment! Poor air quality, polluted soil and water, and excessive heat all ruin yields and contaminate what you harvest. Kevin strongly encourages others to use their natural resources and to limit yourself to only what is needed. Replace what you use and also, research recyclable resources! Remember, leave the planet a better place than when we found it.

Specifically for Veritas, Kevin gathers customer environmental and sustainability requirements and translates those into product features. His focus is to reduce the carbon footprint of our solutions by using denser designs, cleaner energy and improved product use telemetry.
