Configuring the Office 365 Sync provisioning options

If you chose on the User Management page to manage account provisioning with Microsoft Office 365, you must configure the Office 365 Sync provisioning options on the Provisioning page.

To configure the Office 365 Sync provisioning options

  1. In the left navigation pane of Archive Administration, under My Config, click Provisioning.
  2. Under Synchronize User Name from, select one of the following options:

    Email Address

Select this option to match the Username with the primary email address associated with the archive account.

    User Principal Name

Select this option to match the Username with the user principal name associated with the archive account.

    Note:

If archive accounts have already been synced, but selection between Email Address and User Principal Name is changed, go to the Office 365 Config page and click Run Now to update Username based on selection.

  3. Under Domains to Provision, select one of the following options:

    Provision specific domains

Select this option to choose the Microsoft Office 365 domains for which you want to provision archive accounts. Then click Specify Domains and select the required domains from the list. The Select Domains box lists all the domains that are associated with the configured Microsoft Office 365 account.

To set a primary domain, select Set as Primary for the required domain.

When you have chosen the domains, click Update to save the options you selected.

    Provision all domains

Select this option to provision archive accounts for all the Microsoft Office 365 domains that are associated with the configured Microsoft Office 365 account.

  4. Under Archive Provisioning, select one of the following options:

    Provision Distribution Lists

Select this option to create archive accounts for the users that are associated with specific Office 365 distribution lists for your company. Then click Specify Lists and select the required distribution lists.

When you have chosen the distribution lists, click Update to save the options you selected.

    Provision Dynamic Distribution Lists

Select this option to create archive accounts for the users that are associated with specific Office 365 dynamic distribution lists for your company. Then click Specify Lists and select the required dynamic distribution lists.

When you have chosen the dynamic distribution lists, click Update to save the options you selected.

    Provision all users

Select this option to provision archive accounts for all the users in the domains that you specified in the previous step.

    Note:

If the Provision Distribution Lists or Provision Dynamic Distribution Lists option is unavailable, go to the Office 365 Config page and click Run Now to retrieve your distribution lists.

See Running and scheduling Office 365 synchronization events.

  5. Under SMTP Journaling, choose whether to provision journaling for Office 365 Sync manually or automatically:

Manually provision journaling in Office 365

Select this option if you want to configure Office 365 journaling manually from within the Microsoft Office 365 interface.

If you choose this option you must configure a suitable journaling rule manually in Office 365 before you attempt to run a synchronization.

Choose manual provisioning if you want to configure specific journaling rules, for example to journal for a named distribution group. Otherwise you can choose automatic provisioning.

For information on how to configure journaling manually for Office 365 Sync, see Setting up Office 365 journaling in the Enterprise Vault.cloud Journaling Guide.

    Note:

The journal address that you must provide if you configure Office 365 journaling manually is shown in the Journal address box under the Automatically provision journaling in Office 365 option.

Automatically provision journaling in Office 365

Select this option to let Archive Administration configure a journaling rule automatically in Office 365. Archive Administration attempts to create the journaling rule when you click Save and Set Journaling at the end of this procedure. The rule journals all items to the assigned Office 365 journal address.

Archive Administration prepopulates the Journal address box with the Office 365 journal address that Enterprise Vault.cloud has assigned to your company.

    Note:

You must also set up a send connector for Office 365. See Setting up Office 365 journaling in the Enterprise Vault.cloud Journaling Guide.

    Note:

If you want to archive Office 365 messages that are encrypted with Microsoft's Azure Rights Management Services (RMS), you must configure Office 365 to perform journal report decryption. See Additional prerequisites for the archiving of Office 365 RMS encrypted messages in the Enterprise Vault.cloud Journaling Guide.

  6. Click Save or Save and Set Journaling.
  7. To complete the provisioning process, use the additional options on the Provisioning page to further customize your settings:
