Job Browser > Tabular Backup Report

This section provides the reports on NetBackup job activity similar to the NetBackup Activity Monitor.

You can view a detailed listing of all the backup activity performed for the specified timeframe. The default timeframe is last two weeks. This report lets you view the status for multiple job attempts (from Job Attempt Count and Status Code columns). This report also lets you know the time it takes for backup or restore operations to complete (from the Job Duration column). It thus helps you to quickly identify details about the backup or restore jobs that take the maximum time.

You can also drill down from the Job Primary ID column in the report to know the skip file details that are associated with the job. Only some jobs may have skipped files associated with them. For jobs that do not have any skipped files, the drill-down report is either blank or shows hyphens.

Mapping with VBR report

You can edit the Tabular Backup Report to show or hide the columns that you are interested in. All the columns are shown by default. You can also filter the report to show activity for a limited sample set, such as one or more policies, master servers, clients, views, product types, job status etc.

The following table shows the filters for Tabular Backup report and how you can use these filters to view specific data in the report.

Example of filter usage: You may run the Tabular Backup report for a specific master server to view backup details only for the selected master server. The sample report view that is shown above shows data for a specific master server.

Report Enhancements

The following report enhancements have been made:

  • Each Job primary ID is now a link. You can drill down from the Job Primary ID column to know the skipped file details for a job.

  • The report now displays the seconds in Job End Time, Job Start Time, and Expiration Time columns like 9:40:37 A.M. Earlier the report used to display the time in hours and minutes only like 9:40 A.M.

  • The report now shows data for all your views by default. All My Views is the default view when you edit the report.

  • Fixed issues of data correctness and parity with VBR.

Additional Columns

The following additional columns are shown in the report. These columns are not displayed by default on the report. You need to edit the report to manually add these columns and rerun the report.

  • Attempt Status

    This column lets you know the status of the attempt; whether it was successful or failed.

  • Product

    This column shows the product that is associated with the job like NetBackup, NetBackup Master Appliance.

  • Job Directory

    Path that is backed up by a job.

  • Policy Keyword

    Policy keyword that is associated with the job

  • Storage Unit Name

    Name of the storage unit that is associated with the job

  • Attempt Start Time

    Shows the start date and time for the specific job attempt. A job may require multiple attempts or retries due to resources not being available etc. Ensure that the report always shows the Attempt Start Time column. In case you remove Attempt Start Time column, the report may show duplicate records.

Filter Enhancements

The following filter enhancements are listed:

  • The unit Years has been added for Relative Timeframe selection. You can now view data for the last x years. You can also see the Years tab on top-right corner of the Tabular Backup Report.

  • The option Next has been removed from the drop-down menu for Relative Timeframe. You now cannot enter a relative timeframe like Next 2 weeks.

  • The following columns have been removed for the Job filter:

    • Agent Server

    • Job State

  • UNKNOWN has been added as a value for Policy Type column in the Policy filter. You can now filter report data for policy types that are unknown. In earlier versions of OpsCenter the unknown policy types were shown as blank. Now all static columns like job type, schedule type, policy type, etc. are shown as unknown like in VBR.

  • Job Transport Type column has been added to the Job filter. For example, you can view report data for jobs for which the Job transport type is FT or LAN.
