Duplicate files

The Ingest Connector can automatically exclude duplicates of files that have already been added to the Collection Set or extracted, or it can let you decide how to handle a duplicate file on a case basis.

The Ingest Connector uses file hashes to determine if a file is already in the Collection Set or has been extracted previously.

To tell the Ingest Connector how to handle duplicate files

  1. From the menu bar, click Tools > Options to open the Options dialog, then select General > Duplicate Handling.
  2. Select the desired radio button:

    • Select Allow duplicates to permit adding files to the Collection Set that have already been copied.

    • Select Don't allow duplicates to prohibit adding files to the Collection Set that that have already been copied.

  3. Click OK.
