Changing the Backup Exec database location
New Backup Exec Database Location lets you change the Microsoft SQL Server instance that the Backup Exec Database uses. The new location can be on another computer running Microsoft SQL Server, or on the same computer running a different instance of SQL Server.
If you use Backup Exec Utility to change the location of the Backup Exec Database to an unsupported SQL instance, such as SQL Server 2008/2005, the job fails and the Backup Exec services stop. You can only move the Backup Exec Database to one of the following supported instances:
SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 4 or later
SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 3 or later
To change the new Backup Exec database location
- In the task pane, under Database Tasks, click New Backup Exec Database Location.
- Enter a destination SQL Server instance.
- Click OK.
- Click Yes to continue.
- After the operation completes successfully, click Close.
