Showing custom fields in advanced search
When you run an advanced search, you can use custom fields to search for items that have additional property information in their fields.
Enterprise Vault adds index properties to an item when it archives it, and stores this information with the archived item. You can find items by specifying property names and values as custom fields in the search criteria.
Your organization may use a specialized third-party application to analyze and tag electronic communications. If you know the name of the field in which the application adds this property information to each item, you can run a custom field search to find the items that have certain property values.
By default, the advanced search feature hides the options for entering custom field values, but you can make them visible.
To show custom fields in advanced search
- Click your user name at the top right of Enterprise Vault Search.
- Select Preferences.
- In the Preferences dialog box, select Advanced Search in the list of pages.
The advanced search options appear.
- Select Show custom fields.
The first column in advanced search now shows the options that let you search for various types of custom fields.
