Preferences: Advanced Search
This pane lets you hide or show the options for entering custom field values in an advanced search. You can use custom fields to search for items that have additional property information in their fields. For example, your organization may use a specialized third-party application to analyze and tag electronic communications. If you know the name of the field in which the application adds this property information to each item, you can run a custom field search to find the items that have certain property values.
