Job Activity > Variance > Backup Job Size Variance report
This report provides an indication of how a backup size varies from the average size. You can detect any anomalies if the variation is too high.
This report calculates the backup size variation of the last good backup with the average backup size per a client, policy, and schedule type. If any variation calculation is greater than the selected value of variance when the report is run, the client, policy and schedule type combination is shown with the actual variation.
Size variance is calculated using the following formula: (the last backup size - the average backup size) / the average backup size x 100.
Consider the following points before running a Backup Job Size Variance report:
This report considers only full schedules.
This report does not consider deduplication jobs.
This report does not consider failed jobs. The report considers jobs with status code like 0, 1 etc.
If you ran multiple jobs for the same client in the given time frame like 10 jobs per the master server, client, policy, and schedule combination then the report calculates the difference between the last job and the average of the remaining 9 jobs.
In case of multi-stream jobs, the report considers each stream as a different job.
The Client Name column of the report provides a drilldown link to back up job details for the specified time frame.
