Reconfiguring non-WORM Veritas Data Deduplication server

The Veritas Data Deduplication without WORM is automatically unconfigured when you upgrade to 8.3. After the upgrade is complete, you must reconfigure the Veritas Data Deduplication server using the same earlier configuration details. In the earlier versions, the Veritas Data Deduplication without WORM service runs on a host. In version 8.3, this service is reconfigured to run as a container.

To reconfigure Veritas Data Deduplication using the Access command-line interface:

  1. Log in to the Access command-line interface by opening an SSH session to the management console IP as an administrator.
  2. Run the following command and specify the configuration details that you had specified earlier while configuring the Veritas Data Deduplication server:

    dedupe> config filesystem1 [, filesystem2,...] IP username [catfs_name] vdd_version

    filesystem1, filesystem2

The names of the file system to store deduplicated data. Specify the same file systems that you had used earlier to configure the Veritas Data Deduplication server.

    IP

The virtual IP that you used to configure the Veritas Data Deduplication server.

    username

The username that you used to access the Veritas Data Deduplication server.

    catfs_name

Catalog file system for the Veritas Data Deduplication server. Specify the same file system that you had used earlier to configure the Veritas Data Deduplication server.

    Note:

The catfs_name parameter is optional if a separate catalog file system was not used previously during the Veritas Data Deduplication configuration. If you do not have a separate catalog file system, then you should pass the value, vxdefault as the catfs_name parameter.

    vdd_version

The version of Veritas Data Deduplication sever. This is a mandatory parameter.

  3. When prompted, enter the password to access the Veritas Data Deduplication server.

After you enter the password, a message is displayed confirming that the Veritas Data Deduplication server was configured successfully.

  4. If you had added additional virtual IP addresses for the Veritas Data Deduplication server, run the dedupe addip ip command to add the same IP address again.
