How to meet requirements for an eDiscovery Platform backup location path

Requirements

  • The account that is assigned to the service named EsaApplicationService must be granted full rights to the folder
  • Antivirus must be set to exclude the folder selected as the backup destination
  • There must be sufficient free space on the drive where the folder is located (A minimum of 10 GB must be available before the backup will start)
  • The drive that the folder exists on must be able to write at high speeds
  • If the location is on a network path, the connection to the path must be consistently fast (this includes the network throughput and the write speed of the drive) and the URI must be resolvable on the network from the eDiscovery Platform (eDP) server
  • If the chosen folder for esa.case.backupDir property is to be shared, it must be entered as an ABSOLUTE path and the esa.case.sharedBackupDir property must be set to TRUE for the sharing to occur

To change the properties associated with the backup directory listed above, follow the steps below.

  1. From the System view, click Support Features.
  2. Select Property Browser from the drop-down menu.
  3. Select the appliance that hosts the case.
  4. Click Submit.

    This will display a list of properties where the backup directory is shown as esa.case.backupDir .

    To change the backup location
  5. In the field 'Name of property to change', enter esa.case.backupDir
  6. In the field 'New value (leave blank to remove)', enter the full path to the location to use as the backup location
  7. Place a check on the 'Confirm change. Are you sure?' checkbox
  8. Click Submit

    To enable the option for sharing the backup location (Only necessary if the location will be a shared directory)
  9. In the field 'Name of property to change', enter esa.case.sharedBackupDir
  10. In the field 'New value (leave blank to remove)', enter the value of TRUE
  11. Place a check on the 'Confirm change. Are you sure?' checkbox
  12. Click Submit

If any of the above mentioned requirements, that apply, are not met, the backups within eDP will fail.
