Using the secondary storage unit for backup or duplication before disaster recovery configuration is complete, can result in data loss
The secondary storage unit can become available for backup and duplication before disaster recovery configuration is complete. Consider the scenario where storage unit on the secondary site is used for storing backup images before the disaster recovery configuration is complete and eventually disaster recovery configuration fails. During such failures, if disaster recovery configuration is attempted again, the backup images present on the secondary site storage unit are deleted as part of the disaster recovery configuration retry process. (IA-30216)
Workaround:
It is recommended to change the backup policies which have the storage unit set to "Any Available" to the storage unit on the primary cluster so that NetBackup does not attempt to use the storage unit on the secondary site immediately at the time of creation. The secondary site storage unit can be used after disaster recovery is configured successfully.
