Discover plugin
Discover plugin is a generic ISM feature that is available for all array plugin's whether it is a NAS or SAN plugin. This is not specific to NAS-Data-Protection policy.
You can trigger Plugin discovery from Java UI or using the tpconfig CLI. When you trigger plugin discovery, JAVA UI internally invokes tpconfig to perform the discovery operation. This operation is synchronous. It does not return till the discovery operation is complete.
To discover plugins:
Get all the configured plugins from the
CloudPoint_plugin.conf
file.Get the unique plugin types from the configured plugins.
Get all configured plugins from CloudPoint for every plugin type (1 CloudPoint API for 1 plugin type).
Update existing plugin info in-memory (discovery status and time).
Persist the updated plugin info in
CloudPoint_plugin.conf
file.Return the updated plugin info to the User/JavaUI.
Run the command:
/usr/openv/volmgr/bin/tpconfig -discover_plugin -cloudpoint_server <cloudpoint_server_name> -plugin_id <plugin_id_name>
Discovery status (CLI):
To perform recovery in the Java UI
- On the left, expand Media and Device Management> Credentials > click Snapshot Management Servers.
- Right click the required CloudPoint plugin, click Discover assets.
You can view the discovery status for different plugins in NetBackup Admin Console.
