Registering the License Management Service product key

After completing the download packages, installation, verification, and configuration operations, you can use any supported web browser to log on to the License Management Service console.

For the first login session, you need to procure the registration key from the License Analytics Service (LAS) console and then register the product. Note that for first-time login, only one authentication domain is displayed in the drop-down list. Only users with root or admin privileges can perform the license registration operation.

Note:

Ensure that you take a backup of the registration key, a .alf file that is generated during the registration process.

To log on to the License Management Service console

  1. Open a web browser on a host that has the network connection.
  2. In the address field of the browser, type the following URL and press Enter.

https://hostname:14161/#/login where, host name is the fully-qualified host name which should not exceed 15 characters length.

For a IPv4 configuration, you can specify the IP address instead of the host name.

  3. In the Username and Password fields, enter credentials for a valid user.
  4. Select the Domain and click Sign in.
  5. Click How to get the registration key? on the Register your product panel.
  6. Copy the host lock string for the LMS server by clicking Copy to clipboard.

The host lock string is copied, however it is not displayed on the console for security reasons.

  7. To obtain the registration key, do the following:
    • Sign in to the License Analytics Service and go to Administrative functions.

    • On the Generate registration key tab enter the host lock string that you copied earlier and click Generate registration key.

    • Download the displayed registration key, a .alf file. You will use this registration key to register the product.

    See Generating the registration key.

  8. Click the back arrow to close the Getting registration key panel and return to the Register your product panel.
  9. In the Register your product panel, drag and drop the registration key or click Browse to locate and upload the .alf registration key file.
  10. Optionally, enter the site name.
  11. Click Register.

    The Setup menu opens.
