High level working
The primary function or feature of License Management Service is to simplify and automate license management, forecasting, and usage. License Management Service acquires entitlement data from Veritas Entitlement Management Server (VEMS) or License Analytics Service (LAS) and acquires Core Plus metrics from Arctera Services and Operations Readiness Tools (SORT) website or LAS. Hosts are mapped to matching entitlements, based on the calculations of number of cores and the product bundle.
Based on the calculations, a report consisting of high-level entitlement and license usage data is created, called the Usage summary report. This is a telemetry type of report without any host specific or confidential information. The report can be viewed on the License Management Service console and then for ease of future planning based on historical usage analysis it is recommended to share the report with Arctera. Report can be shared using the License Management Service console or by uploading on the Arctera License Analytics Service console.
As a user, in addition to the above you have access to a variety of reports within License Management Service. The below diagram depicts the high level workings of License Management Service.
