Add/Edit Windows File Server options
Note:
If IP addresses are used with Data Insight and NTLM authentication is disabled, make sure Keberos authentication is configured to work with IP addresses or use only FQDNs.
Use this dialog box to add a new Windows File Server to Arctera Data Insight or to edit the configuration of an existing filer.
Note:
If NTLM is disabled and the hostname is the computer name and not the IP address, Data Insight will only support Kerberos authentication protocol.
Table: Add/Edit Windows File Server options
Field | Description |
|---|---|
Is a MSCS clustered file server | Select the check box if the Windows File Server is part of a Microsoft Cluster Server configuration. |
Windows server name/Cluster name | Enter the host name or IP address of the filer that you want Data Insight to monitor. In case of a clustered Windows File Server, enter the host name or IP address of the cluster. Note: The hostname or IP address should be same as the filer name entered in Data Loss Prevention Discover targets. |
Select Collector node for this filer | Do the following:
Data Insight connects to the filer from this server. It is recommended that the Collector worker node share a fast network with the filer. Changing the Collector If you want to change the existing collector, you will lose events during collector migration, impacting the incremental scan. It is recommended that you initiate migration during the maintenance window. Prior to initiating the collector migration, make sure the following conditions are met:
|
Select Indexer node for this filer | Do the following:
Events and metadata that are collected from the cluster are processed and stored on the Indexer node. You can also migrate the file server to another Indexer. |
Monitor mode | Select one of the following monitoring options:
|
Agent names for this filer | This option is visible when adding a clustered file server that is monitored using an agent, but where the agent is installed manually. Select one or more agent nodes from the list that belong to this cluster. This option is also visible when editing a clustered file server. |
Let Data Insight install the agent automatically | Select to allow Data Insight to install or upgrade the agent on the Windows File Server. Data Insight automatically installs the Windows File Server agent on the filer using the WMI interface and also registers the filer with the Management Server. |
Node names to install agent | This option is only visible if you have selected . In the text box, enter comma-separated IP addresses or hostnames of the Windows File Server nodes, on which you want to install the agent. |
Filer Administrator Credentials | Enter the credentials that Data Insightshould use to install the agent on the Windows File Server. |
Test Connection | Click to test the availability of network connection between the Collector worker node and the filer, and the validity of the specified credentials. Veritas recommends that you test the connection before proceeding to ensure that Data Insight is able to connect to the filer. |
Automatically discover and monitor all shares on this filer | Use this option to have Data Insight automatically discover shares of the filer and add them to the configuration. You can choose to exclude certain shares using the field. Discovery of shares takes place as soon as you add a new filer and then twice each day at 2:00 A.M. and 2:00 P.M. |
Exclude following shares from discovery | Enter the details of shares which should not be included in share discovery. This option is available if you select . Specify comma
separated patterns that you want to ignore.
Patterns can have 0 or more wildcard *
characters. For example, |
Enable file system event monitoring | Select to enable event monitoring on the filer. |
Enable filer scanning | Select the check box to enable filer scanning according to the specified schedule. |
Scanning schedule for full scans | Select one of the following to define a scanning schedule for shares of this filer: Arctera Data Insight periodically scans shares of the filer to obtain file metadata and security descriptors. Each Collector worker node by default initiates a full scan of shares on the last Friday of each month. Note: You can also customize the schedule per share using the dialog box. |
Scanner credentials | Select one of the following:
|
Scan new shares immediately | Select this option to scan newly added shares immediately, instead of waiting for the normal scan schedule. Scanning will still take place during the hours when scanning is permitted on the Collector node. |
Note:
In case of manual installation, Local system account credentials are used by default. For smooth upgrade via push installation, update the credentials with the user having appropriate privileges.
