Adding the disk space of an Expansion Storage Shelf from the Access Appliance shell menu

The following procedure describes how to add new storage shelf disk space to an Access 3340 appliance from the Access Appliance shell menu. The steps may differ based on the Access Appliance release version. Starting with version 8.0, you cannot scan the storage after connecting a storage shelf if the cluster is not configured. During the cluster configuration, the storage is automatically scanned and you can view the disk space in the Access Appliance UI. If you add a storage shelf after the cluster is configured, run the system storage-scan command from the Appliance shell menu to detect and add the disk space.

For 7.4.3.x or earlier versions, the following procedure shows how to add the disk space for a newly added storage shelf.

To add the disk space from the Access Appliance shell menu

  1. You can reach the shell menu in two ways:
    • Use PuTTY to start an SSH session.

    • Connect a laptop, keyboard and monitor, or KVM to the appliance.

  2. Log on to the shell menu. The Main_Menu prompt appears.
  3. Perform a scan as follows:
    • Type Manage and press Enter.

    • Type Storage and press Enter.

    • Type Scan and press Enter.

The scan takes a couple of minutes to complete.

  4. View the available storage space as follows:
    • Navigate to the Storage menu.

    • At the prompt, type Show Disk and press Enter.

  5. Navigate from the Access Appliance Shell Menu, Main_Menu, to the Access command-line interface or the Access Appliance UI.
