Installing Oracle
Complete these steps to install Oracle. The installer screens and options may vary slightly for different versions of Oracle.
Refer to the Oracle documentation for detailed installation steps.
While installing Oracle, note the following:
Install Oracle in software only mode. Do not configure the Oracle database while installing Oracle on additional cluster nodes.
Install the Oracle software program files on a local disk.
To ensure application installations are identical, the values you specify while installing Oracle must be the same on all nodes.
For example, the database name, file locations, database credentials must be the same on all cluster nodes.
The Oracle Home name and path should be the same on all the cluster nodes.
Do not create the Oracle Starter database.
To install Oracle
- Insert the Oracle software disc in a drive connected to the node and run the Setup program.
- Complete the instructions given below, depending on the version of Oracle.
Install the Oracle database.
Choose the Basic or Advanced installation type.
If you choose Basic installation, follow these steps:
In the Oracle Home Location box, type or select a name and a path on the local disk for the Oracle Home.
This installs the Oracle binaries on the local disk. Use the same Oracle Home name and path on all nodes.
Select Enterprise Edition.
Clear Create Starter Database and click Next.
If you choose Advanced installation, follow these steps:
Select the destination directory for the Oracle installation and click Next.
Select Enterprise Edition and click Next.
Select Do not create a starter database.
- Follow the wizard instructions, select options as per your configuration and complete the installation.
