Error Message
Short Message
V-409-776-30110: The Veritas Data Deduplication storage pool size check failed.
Long Message
V-409-776-30110: The Veritas Data Deduplication storage pool size check failed. The storage pool size is more than system memory * 2TB. Install additional system memory.
Cause
Access Appliance 8.1 requires at least 0.5GB of system RAM to be available on each node for every 1TB of Veritas Data Deduplication (VDD) storage pool. Insufficient RAM can result in a poor deduplication ratio.
Solution
- Contact sales and purchase enough memory to support the pool size(s) on your Access appliance. This is the preferred option as it will provide the best deduplication rate and reduce the need to purchase more storage. Please note, creating VDD pools greater than installed memory can optimally support WILL result in lower deduplication rates which will cause the Access appliance to fill to capacity much faster than when properly configured and sized, requiring more storage to be purchased to continue storing backup data.
- If your appliance is running with 8.0.x and it cannot connect to veritas.com directly, or your appliance is running with 7.4.3.x, you must manually download the preflight_check_plugins.tar from Download Center, and upload it to the Access appliance. Go to the following page and follow the guidance to download the file and upload it to your appliance

After upgrade to 8.1, operations such as configuration of VDD, increasing storage for VDD or reconfiguration of VDD are not allowed if insufficient system RAM is not present on the appliance. Please refer to the following article
