How to configure Fibre Transport media server for SAN Client
The information in this section pertains only to NetBackup 52xx, 5330, and 5340 appliances with software versions 4.0 or earlier.
Table: FT media server configuration process provides an overview of how to configure the Fibre Transport media server(FTMS) on the appliance.
Table: FT media server configuration process
Step | Action | Description |
|---|---|---|
Step 1 | Determine whether your appliance HBA configuration supports FTMS. | Identify your appliance HBA configuration. See About the NetBackup 5230 rear panel configurations. See NetBackup 5240 Appliance I/O configuration options. See NetBackup 5330 Appliance compute node PCIe slot I/O configuration options. Determine whether your appliance HBA configuration supports FTMS. See Fibre Channel feature support with appliance HBA configurations. |
Step 2 | Learn about SAN Client and FTMS for NetBackup appliance. | |
Step 3 | Learn about HBA port reservation and default port mode for FTMS. | |
Step 4 | Create Fibre Transport (FT) backup zones. | Select HBA ports and learn about zoning best practices. See About zoning the SAN for NetBackup appliances. Determine the appliance HBA WWPNs for zoning. |
Step 5 | Enable FTMS on the appliance. | To use FT for backups to the appliance, you must enable FTMS on the appliance. |
