Installing the VCS agent for Oracle software
The agent binaries for Cluster Server agent for Oracle are part of VRTSvcsea fileset. The VRTSvcsea fileset is already installed if you chose to install all filesets or recommended filesets during VCS installation. You must manually install the VRTSvcsea fileset if you installed minimal filesets during VCS installation.
You can install the Cluster Server agent for Oracle from the product disc. You must install the Oracle enterprise agent on all nodes that will host the Oracle service group.
To install the agent on an AIX node
- Log in as superuser.
- Make sure that the agent is not already installed. Navigate to /opt/VRTSagents/ha/bin and list the contents of the directory.
If the command returns the VCS agents for Oracle, you can skip this procedure.
- Determine the device access name of the disc drive. For example, enter:
# cd /dev # lsdev -C -c cdrom
The output might resemble:
cd0 Available 10-60-00-4,0 16 Bit SCSI Multimedia CD-ROM Drive
In this example, cd0 is the disc's device access name.
- Insert the disc with the VCS software into a drive that is connected to the node.
- Mount the software disc using the device access name that you found in step 3:
# mkdir -p /cdrom # mount -V cdrfs -o ro /dev/cd0 /cdrom # cd /cdrom
- Install the Oracle agent software from the
pkgsdirectory.# installp -ac -d VRTSvcsea.bff VRTSvcsea
The fileset VRTSvcsea includes the agent binaries for Oracle, Netlsnr, ASMInst, and ASMDG agents. The fileset also installs the VCS agents for DB2 and Sybase.
- Repeat step 1 through step 6 on each node that will become part of the Oracle service group.
