Prerequisites for adding data collectors (IBM VIO)
Identify a server where the Data Collector software will be installed. Server requirements include:
64-bit OS. See the Certified Configurations Guide for supported operating systems.
When the NetBackup IT Analytics system collects data from any vendor subsystem, the collection process expects name/value pairs to be in US English, and requires the installation to be done by an Administrator with a US English locale. The server's language version can be non-US English.
Support Amazon Corretto 11. Amazon Corretto is a no-cost, multi-platform, production-ready distribution of the Open Java Development Kit (OpenJDK).
For performance reasons, do not install Data Collectors on the same server as the NetBackup IT Analytics Portal. However, if you must have both on the same server, verify that the Portal and Data Collector software do not reside in the same directory.
Install only one Data Collector on a server (or OS instance).
Note the port used by the IBM VIO Data Collector: SSH 22, telnet 23.
Data Collection retrieves data from servers in the following order:
VIO Servers (Virtual I/O Servers): Enable Capacity, HBA, Volume Manager, and Multi-pathing probes in Host Discovery and Collection. To use the VIO restricted shell to execute commands to collect data, configure the advanced parameter, USE_VIO_RESTRICTED_SHELL.
LPAR Clients (Logical Partitioning Clients) Managed by VIO Servers: Enable Capacity, HBA, Volume Manager, and Multi-pathing probes in Host Discovery and Collection.
For newly discovered LPAR Clients, probes can be configured directly from the data collector policy.
Gather the following required configuration details for the VIO Data Collector Policy:
LPAR Management Server: IP address or server name of the IBM LPAR Management Server (HMC or IVM).
User ID & Password: Credentials for the LPAR Management Server.
For the VIO server: and and .
