About NetBackup Appliance firmware updates
Starting with NetBackup Appliance release 3.1.2, you can update the following appliance firmware components:
BIOS
HDD
JBOD
NIC
Updating the firmware components can be done from the NetBackup Appliance Shell Menu with the following command:
Manage > Software > Firmware > Update
This command verifies the appliance model number and then builds a list of the components that require a firmware update. You are prompted to confirm the update operation for each hardware component. If you respond with no to any prompt, a warning appears to alert you to any potential conflict.
The firmware update files must reside on the appliance before you can deploy them. The following describes the supported deployment methods:

Method | Description |

New installation (ISO) | Starting with version 3.1.2, firmware updates are included. After the appliance has been configured, you can run the Manage > Software > Firmware > Update command to update the components. |
Upgrade (RPM) | Starting with version 3.1.2, firmware updates are included. After the appliance software has been upgraded, you can run the Manage > Software > Firmware > Update command to update the components. |
EEB | After installing the EEB, you can run the Manage > Software > Firmware > Update command to update the components. |
