Log Name: Veritas Enterprise Vault
Source: Enterprise Vault
Date: 12/13/2019 5:58:14 AM
Event ID: 41309
Task Category: Index Admin Service
The following error message occurred in the core indexing engine: The SQL statement [ALTER TABLE authority ADD frozen TEXT] on database [J:\Indexes\Index_MNT02\Indexes\2017\Q1\index3\1290E758B53E25647B4520A7962C04233_18503\live\log.sqlt] resulted in a SQL error: [SQL error code : duplicate column name: frozen].
For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://telemetry.community.veritas.com/entt?product=ev&language=english&version=126.96.36.199&build=188.8.131.525&error=V-437-41309
This issue is due to a change in the velocity indexing. Where prior to EV 12.4 EV used Velocity v8.1-6 and after EV 12.4.x the indexing engine was changed to Watson 10.0.0.4v. As a result the Watson 10.0.0.4v engine is unable to find an expected column named 'Frozen' in the 'Authority' table of each log.sqlt file that exists in each index volume.
As it can not find this column the index volume may be marked as failed or we may see event ID 41039. To fix this issue Veritas has created a script that can be run before upgrading to 12.4.2 that goes through each log.sqlt in the environment and adds this 'Frozen' Column to the 'Authority' table.
It appears the Watson engine attempts to add the column, but it is already there and it throws the 41309 stating that it cannot add a duplicate column. As any live volumes in this state cannot be added to items awaiting indexing for that volume will build up. End user and DA users may get the warning "
Search is returning partial results because the vault that you are searching is being updated" after performing searches.
A patch is available that can resolve the issue . Please create a Support case to obtain the workaround.
