Problem

During the backup of a network share, using a UNC path, and the data is hosted from a DataDomain with version 6.1.2.30 operating system, the backups fail with Status 71.

Error Message

(71) none of the files in the file list exist.

Cause

A change in the CIFS components of the DDOS (DataDomain Operating System) version 6.1.2.30

For example:

  • Data Domain Share path = \\dataserver01\SQL\Backup
    • Note the upper case 'B' in the Backup directory.
  • NetBackup Include List = \\dataserver01\SQL\backup
    • Note the lower case 'b' does not match the exact case of the Share path.

The entry does not exactly match the path and returns a Status 71.

Solution

Change the NetBackup Policy's Include List entry to exactly match the Share path will resolve the issue. The Include List entry should match the exact case of the Share path, or UNC backup path hosted on the Data Domain storage.

Example:

  • NetBackup Include List = \\dataserver01\SQL\Backup
    • Note that the upper case 'B' in Backup now matches.
