Problem
This issue occurs when trying to upgrade JRE on non-English Windows where the NetBackup Remote Administration Console 8.x is installed.
Environment:
- Non-English Windows of any version (for example, Japanese Windows )
- NetBackup Remote Administration Console 8.x
Error Message
The following is an example when trying to upgrade JRE version to 8u221 on Japanese Windows 2012 R2 where NetBackup Administration Console 8.1.1 is installed.
C:\Program Files\Veritas\Java>nbcomponentupdate -product remotejavaconsole -component jre -path C:\work2\jre1.8.0_221 -logpath C:\work
--- output ---
Command line: C:\Program Files\Veritas\Java\nbcomponentupdate.exe -product remotejavaconsole -component jre -path C:\work2\jre1.8.0_221 -logpath C:\work
Error : The product Veritas NetBackup Remote Java Console is not installed on host. For more information refer C:\work\nbcomponentupdate_22-07-2019_16.27.51.log log file.
Cause
The failure is caused by an issue with the nbcomponentupdate utility identified in ET3982055.
If the Remote Java Console is installed on a system with non-english locale settings, then the nbcomponentupdate utility failed to detect the version(s) it has installed.
Solution
There is an EEB available to allow the nbcomponent update utility to properly detect the NetBackup Remote Administration Console 8.x on all locales.
Note: The EEB can be applied to versions 8.0 through 8.2.
Please contact Veritas Technical Support to obtain the EEB for ET3982055.
