Event 45089 'The Filer: is not sending KEEP_ALIVE message. Recall operation for the file on the filer may fail'

Problem

During Placeholder recalls, the following error will occur in the event logs on the Enterprise Vault (EV) server.

A Dtrace of EvNetAppCModePHSvr on the EV server will show the following:

Cause

The following are possible causes of the issue: 

• An unsupported version of NetApp ONTAP is running.  
• Network communication issues between the EV server and NetApp
• The Fpolicy on the NetApp may be disconnecting from the EV server 

Solution

1. Confirm the version of ONTAP running on the NetApp is supported with the version of EV.  This can be located in the Compatibility Guide which can be found here: Compatibility Guide
2. Confirm the EV server can communicate bi-directionally with the NetApp via the port configured on the NetApp C-Mode tab on File Servers > Properties.  
3. Confirm the Account and Password are correct on the NetApp C-Mode tab on File Servers > Properties.  This is important if the account password has been updated.  
4. Validate all configuration and security settings are in place on the NetApp
