msdpimgutil — DESCRIPTION

Synopsis

msdpimgutil spacereport [--backup_id_list backupid list] [--client client name] [--policy policy name] [--startdate start date] [--enddate end date] [--copynumber copy number] [--details]

msdpimgutil encryptionreport [--systemcheck] [--backupid backupid --copy copynumber [--verbose]]

On UNIX systems, the directory path to this command is /usr/openv/pdde/pdcr/bin/msdpimgutil

On Windows systems, the directory path to this command is install_path\Veritas\pdde\msdpimgutil.exe

DESCRIPTION

Use msdpimgutil spacereport command to analyze how much disk space the backup images consume. This utility helps you identify images with unexpected deduplication rates and make a decision on what images to expire in the event of high deduplication pool space usage.

Note the limitations for the msdpimgutil command:

  • The command does not support universal share dump data statistics.

  • When you run this command to determine the data size, do not expire the backup images that you specify in the command input parameters.

  • Ensure that the expired storage space is reclaimed before you run this utility.

  • The command does not support the MSDP-Object-Store policy type data statistics.

Use msdpimgutil encryptionreport command to review the MSDP pool encryption status or image encryption status on the storage server.

  • Reports the MSDP pool encryption status.

  • Lists the data encryption setting and KMS encryption setting for all LSUs.

  • Reports the image data encryption status for the given image.

  • Reports the image KMS encryption status for the given image.

  • Provides KMS key IDs used for the given encrypted image.

  • Provides the unencrypted data container IDs.

  • Provides encryption protection guidance if encryption is disabled.

OPTIONS

--backupid backupid

Specifies the backup ID of the image and reports the image data encryption status. This option only works with the msdpimgutil encryptionreport command.

--backup_id_list backupid_list

Specifies a set of image backup ID, report how much space can be reclaimed if these images are expired. This option only works with the msdpimgutil spacereport command.

--client client_name

Specifies the name of the client, report how much space can be reclaimed when images of the client are expired. This option only works with the msdpimgutil spacereport command.

--copy copynumber

Specifies the copy number of the image, the default value is 1. This option only works with the msdpimgutil encryptionreport command.

--copynumber copy_number

Specifies the copy number of the image, the default value is 1. This option only works with the msdpimgutil spacereport command.

--details

Show more detailed information. This option only works with the msdpimgutil spacereport command.

-enddate end_date

Specifies the end date. Provide the date and the time information in the format shown: YYYY-MM-DDThh:mm:ss. For example, 2023-09-02T01:23:22. This option only works with the msdpimgutil spacereport command.

-policy policy_name

Specifies the name of the policy, report how much space can be reclaimed when images of the policy are expired. This option only works with the msdpimgutil spacereport command.

-startdate start_date

Specifies the start date. Provide the date and the time information in the format shown: YYYY-MM-DDThh:mm:ss. For example, 2023-09-02T01:23:22. This option only works with the msdpimgutil spacereport command.

--systemcheck

Report the MSDP pool encryption status. This option only works with the msdpimgutil encryptionreport command.

--verbose

Output KMS key IDs for the KMS encrypted image or the data containers IDs for the unencrypted image. This option only works with the msdpimgutil encryptionreport command.

EXAMPLES

Example 1: Get the size consumed by the specified backup images.

msdpimgutil spacereport --backup_id_list
sadiexxvmxx.xxx.xxx.domain.com_xxxxx02360
sadiexxvmxx.xxx.xxx.domain.com_xxxxx02243

Example 2: Get the size consumed by all backup images from a specified policy or client and policy.

msdpimgutil spacereport --client sadiexxvmxx.xxx.xxx.domain.com
--policy dirPlocal2

Example 3: Get the size consumed by all the backup images between the specified start date and end date.

msdpimgutil spacereport --startdate 2023-09-02T01:23:22
--enddate 2023-12-03T01:23:22

Example 4: Check the encryption settings of the image in the MSDP pool. It reports the image data encryption status, image KMS encryption status, KMS key IDs, and the unencrypted data container IDs used for the given image. If encryption is disabled, it provides encryption protection guidance.

msdpimgutil encryptionreport --backupid backup id
--copy copy number --verbose
