Configuring a backup policy for Notes database supporting files

To properly back up a database environment, you must back up not only database files but also the database supporting files. Back up all local drives but exclude the database and the transaction logs from the backup.

To configure a Domino backup policy for database supporting files

  1. Log on to the master server as administrator (Windows) or root (UNIX).
  2. Open the NetBackup Administration Console.

If your site has more than one master server, select the one on which you want to add the policy.

  3. In the left pane, right-click Policies and select New Policy.
  4. Type a unique name for the new policy.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Click the Attributes tab.
  7. For the Policy type, select MS-Windows (Windows) or Standard (UNIX).
  8. Select other attributes you want.
  9. Click the Schedules tab and configure the schedules for this policy.
  10. Click the Clients tab and add the clients that you want to back up with this policy.
  11. On the Backup Selections tab, click New.
  12. Add the ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES directive to the backup selections list.
    • In the Add Backup Selection dialog box, from the Pathname or directive list, select ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES.

    • Click Add > OK > OK.

  13. Continue with the instructions for excluding database files from the backup of a Windows client or a UNIX client.

See About excluding Notes databases from backups.
