xprtld.service fails to start during yum upgrade (4188076)

On systems that are registered under InfoScale Operations Manager with VBS configured, the xprtld.service may fail to start automatically during a yum upgrade process.

The following symptoms occur:

  • The xprtld.service enters a 'failed' state with a 'timeout' result.

  • Several unit processes remain in a running state after the service has stopped.

  • The system log shows a "Failed to start Systemd Veritas xprtld service." error message.

Workaround:

After completing the yum upgrade, manually start the xprtld service using the following command:

# sudo systemctl start xprtld.service
