Cause

One possible cause is that the policy's Type had been incorrectly set to Standard, which is for Unix/Linux clients.

Solution

Changing the Policy Type to MS-Windows may resolve the issue.

Other possible solutions include:

  • Excluding the file(s) causing the issue.
  • Verify the files are eligible for backup operations if they belong to any third party application.
  • Verify the files exist and are not corrupt (resist opening, renaming, and other operations).
  • Attempt to back the files up with the native Windows Backup application to verify they are valid backup targets, then repeat the NetBackup operation.
