Summary

A vulnerability was discovered in the Veritas Data Insight versions 7.0.1, and prior.  It allows a remote attacker to inject an arbitrary web script into an HTTP request which could reflect back to an authenticated user without sanitization if executed by that user.

Prerequisites

It is required that the target for this attack be logged in as a user of the Veritas Data Insight application and complete sending of the malicious request to the application.

Affected Versions

Veritas Data Insight versions 6.0, 6.1, 6.1.1, 6.1.2, 6.1.3, 6.1.4, 6.1.5, 6.1.6, 6.2, 6.3, 6.3.1, 6.4, 6.4.1, 6.5, 6.5.1, 6.5.2, 6.6, 6.6.1, 6.6.2, 7.0, and 7.0.1.

Remediation

Customers under a current maintenance contract should upgrade to Data Insight version 7.1.
