NetBackup 8.1.1 / 3.1.1 Hotfix - MSDP EEB Bundle (Etrack 3942191)
Abstract
Description
A hotfix bundle is available for NetBackup 8.1.1 which resolves the following issues seen after an upgrade:
- After appliance upgrade to 3.1 (NetBackup 8.1), the MSDP Pool used space increased by 27%
- Compaction fails for containers with less than 100 POs.
- Backups done after upgrade have bad dedup rates.
- Appliance 8.1 upgrade caused the MSDP storage to reach upper limit on AIR configured Target machines.
- Corrupt images have missing DOs
- NBAPP 5230 3.0 to 3.1.1, after upgrade spoold silently crashes.
- SPAD is crashing after upgrade to 8.1.1 and completion of fingerprint conversion
- AIR import fails at target nbu domain
- Further corruption on an appliance with 3935219_V13 installed
- Backups run slow to MSDP. Intermittently delays between 4-15 minutes starting to perform SQL transaction log backups but when data transfer starts the backup complete successful with about 40 seconds.
- Incorrect conversion progress, 99% is shown though tere are large percentage of data containers not converted, or the progress always 0 before finished.
- 3975728: Remove replication throttling. The async_wait function in libstspipd used to have a 30 second sleep/cache mechanism to avoid overloading spad with too many status queries. This change removes the mechanism because it prevents timely recognition of completion of small jobs. There's a matching change to bpdm in the src repository to add throttling based on image size.

- NetBackup 8.1 Release Update 2 (8.1.2)
This EEB should be installed on:
- MSDP storage servers
- Load balance media servers
- NetBackup clients that are configured for client side deduplication
This EEB should be installed on the above systems regardless of they were upgraded, experienced a re-image or were shipped / installed with the 8.1.1 version.
Note: If a previous version of the EEB is installed on a system, remove it before applying the newer version.
This NetBackup 8.1.1 etrack has EEB bundles for Appliance, Windows, SLES and RHEL MSDP servers and clients. EEB version 27.
