Resolves NetBackup job failures with Status 25 or 40 on NetBackup Appliances

Description

Problem

NetBackup jobs fail with a Status 25 or 40 on NetBackup appliances that use software versions 3.1 and 3.1.1. PBX logs contain the error Failed to change the owner: root.

The following section shows examples of the job details, PBX log messages, and the strace of the PBX process when the problem occurs.

Cause

Starting with NetBackup software version 8.1 (NetBackup Appliance 3.1), PBX changed the location of the IPC file creation to the /var/VRTSpbx/root directory. On NetBackup appliances, the policy for the Symantec Data Center Security Agent (SDCSA) does not allow chown and chmod operations on this updated PBX path.
