Support for Microsoft Entra ID

Backup Exec protects Microsoft Entra ID tenant data by backing up and restoring the following entities:

  • Users

  • Groups

  • Application registrations

  • Enterprise applications

  • Relationships between these entities

After the upgrade, update your existing Microsoft 365 tenant configuration by selecting Update > Update Configuration to leverage this feature.

Support for Microsoft SharePoint Server Subscription Edition

Backup Exec now supports protection of SharePoint Server Subscription Edition and granular restore of individual items (GRT) from SharePoint Server Subscription Edition backups.

Backup and restore job delegation for Microsoft 365 workloads

You can now configure Microsoft 365 backup and restore jobs in a CASO-MBES environment. Backup and restore jobs for Microsoft 365 workloads can be created on the Central Administration Server (CAS) and delegated to run on Managed Backup Exec Servers (MBES), enabling better load distribution and streamlined job execution across your Backup Exec deployment.

Microsoft 365 enhancements

  • Backup Exec enhances backup operations for Microsoft 365 Consolidate Full backups, reducing the backup window for large-scale data.

  • Backup Exec provides improved speed for Microsoft 365 Forever Incremental and Consolidate Full backups for SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business backups.

After the upgrade, update your existing Microsoft 365 tenant configuration by selecting Update > Update Configuration to leverage benefits of these enhancements.

OVHcloud S3 object lock

Customers can now create Write Once, Read Many (WORM) enabled backup sets on OVHcloud cloud storage configured with Backup Exec.

Support for new cloud storage regions

Backup Exec users benefit through support for the following cloud storage regions, enabling greater flexibility and economy:

  • Amazon: Mexico (Central)

  • Amazon: Asia Pacific (Thailand)

  • Amazon: Asia Pacific (Malaysia)

  • Google: Stockholm (europe-north2)

  • Google: Mexico (northamerica-south1)
