Backup Exec now supports backups and restores of Windows Server 2025. Backup Exec Server and Backup Exec Agent for Windows can be installed on Windows Server 2025. NetApp ONTAP Cluster Aware Backup support |
Backup Exec now supports NetApp's ONTAP Cluster Aware Backup (CAB) that allows you to back up a VServer (Virtual Server) or an SVM (Storage Virtual machine). |

Role-based access control v2 |
The role-based access control (RBAC) feature is now enhanced to provide support for the Central Administration Server (CAS) and Managed Backup Exec Server (MBES) environment. Additionally, a new role is created for the restore administrator to manage restore jobs. |

Support for self-protect backup job |
Backup Exec now supports a self-protect backup job that is automatically created when Backup Exec is installed and performs backup of the metadata on the media server to facilitate a faster restore process. |
