Restore OneDrive/SharePoint sites collections, sites, lists, and data
Use the following procedure to restore your OneDrive/SharePoint sites collections, sites, lists, and data.
To restore the OneDrive/SharePoint sites collections, sites, lists, and data
- Open a web browser and access the End-User portal.
- On the left, either click My Content (To restore your own data) or click Shared > Shared with me (To restore the data that is shared with you).
- Click the Stor that holds your data.
All the items in the Stor are displayed on the page.
- Browse for the required item.
- Select checkboxes of the items that need to be restored.
- Click Restore.
- On the Restore page, do the following as required:
From the Restore Type dropdown list, select OneDrive.
From the Destination dropdown list, select the required restore service.
On the Site collection URL field, enter the URL of the site that is to be restored.
Important: You must be the Primary Admin for the site you have selected as a destination site for restore.
For a successful restore of SharePoint/OneDrive items to their original source location, the web templates for both the source and destination must be the same.
If you want to restore data to another folder, click Browse. On the Restore page, select the required target folder for restore.
Select the following options as required:
Overwrite settings, columns, content types for site collections, sites, and lists: Select the check box to overwrite the settings, content types, and columns on the existing sites, sub-sites, and lists.
Overwrite permissions: Select the check box to restore the Site Admins, SharePoint Groups, Role definitions, and Role Assignments on the sites, sub-sites, lists, folders, and items created by the restore.
Exclude Destination System Lists: When restoring system lists, like the master page, theme gallery, and taxonomy hidden lists, and so on, an Access denied error can occur if the destination site requires the Add and Customize Pages permission.
When the check box is selected:
Any items from hidden lists or catalogs (except the Teams wiki list) are skipped from the restore.
The skipped items are recorded in the diagnostic logs.
If a system list or a folder within a system list is chosen as the destination, and the checkbox is enabled, the restore is failed with an error indicating that restoration to the selected system list is not possible.
(Optional) Enter the email addresses of the users who need to get notification about restore.
Click Restore.
- Navigate to the destination location to confirm that the restore has happened successfully.
Note the following details:
The items are only restored to original locations.
The last backed-up SharePoint item version is restored before the item is stubbed.
The last modified date of the item is updated to the current time after restore or download to ensure that the item is not selected by the configured Stub policy.
Note:
Contact your backup administrator if any issues are observed during the restore process.
