Connecting Access nodes to the network
This section provides information about connecting the network ports on both compute nodes to your network. Network ports on the rear panel of the compute node are shown in the following diagram.
Item 1 - IPMI (remote management) port
Item 2 - eth0/NIC1 port (for laptop connection)
The default IP address for this private network port is 192.168.229.233.
The default login credentials are:
User name: admin
Password: P@ssw0rd
Item 3 - eth1/NIC2 port
Each of these ports requires a Cat5 (minimum) Ethernet cable.
SSH
Veritas Remote Management Console (virtual KVM)
Physical keyboard and monitor
The common tasks that you can perform in the appliance shell menu include:
Initial configuration
Network configuration
Appliance management
Veritas recommends using the IPMI port to establish remote access to the appliance.
The private network address for the eth0/NIC1 port is reserved to provide a direct connection from a laptop to perform the initial configuration. NIC1 (eth0) is typically not connected to your network environment.
After initial configuration you can change the NIC1 (eth0) IP address to repurpose the port.
Refer to the Veritas Access Appliance Initial Configuration Guide for details about the initial configuration requirements and procedures.
