Using image sharing from the NetBackup web UI
You can use the NetBackup web UI to share images from an on-premises location to the cloud. You can set up a cloud recovery server on demand and share the images to that server.
Use the information from the following topic from the NetBackup Deduplication Guide to set up a cloud recovery server:
About image sharing using MSDP cloud
Before you begin, ensure that you have the required permissions in the web UI to import the image, restore, convert, and access the AMI ID or VHD.
Importing the images.
On the left, select and then .
Select the volume pools that contain the images that you want to share.
In the Disk pool options, locate the disk pool name and click .
Note:
The fast import option is an import operation that is specific to image sharing. You can import the backed-up images from the cloud storage to the cloud recovery server that is used for image sharing. After a fast import, you can restore the images. For AWS cloud provider, you can also convert the VM image to an AWS AMI. For Azure cloud provider, you can convert the VM image to VHD.
In the page, select the backup images that you want to import and click .

On the left select and then select the imported VMware image to convert.
On the Recovery point tab, select the recovery date.
For the recovery point date, choose the required recovery point, click .
Once the conversion is complete, an AMI ID or VHD URL is generated.
Use the AMI ID to locate the image in AWS and then use the AWS console to start the EC2 instance. Or use VHD URL to create virtual machine.
