Protecting PaaS assets in GCP
Follow these steps to protect your PaaS assets in GCP. The "Applicable to?" column shows for which database or environment a particular step is required. The Steps column gives you the links to the steps that you need to perform. Ensure that you perform each step completely before you proceed to the next step.
The steps that are applicable to all databases are mandatory steps. You need to perform the database-specific steps only when you protect that database.
Table: Steps to protect PaaS assets in GCP
Step no | Applicable to? | Steps |
|---|---|---|
1 | All databases | Review the prerequisites for NetBackup PaaS protection. |
2 | All databases | Consider the limitations and considerations of NetBackup protection for the databases that you want to protect. |
3 | All databases | Install the native client utilities. Each native client utility supports a set of databases. You can find the list of supported databases for each utility in the relevant sections. |
4 | All databases | Configure storage for different NetBackup deployments. |
5 | All databases | Configure the storage server for instant access. |
6 | All databases | NetBackup uses the NetBackup Snapshot Manager component to provide protection to the PaaS databases. Make sure that you do the following:
See the NetBackup™ Snapshot Manager for Cloud Install and Upgrade Guide for more details. |
7 | When NetBackup is deployed in a Kubernetes cluster. | Enable backup and restore in Kubernetes. |
8 | MySQL and MariaDB databases | Enable binary logging. |
9 | All databases | Consider Auto Image Replication (AIR) for extra protection. |
10 | GCP SQL Server | Consider using incremental backups for better backup performance. |
