Troubleshooting AHV operations: Error during creation of AHV instant access virtual machines
The following table describes the problems that may occur when you try to create AHV instant access virtual machines.
Table: Error during creation of AHV instant access virtual machines
Error message or cause | Explanation and recommended action |
|---|---|
Failed to create the VM in the Nutanix AHV cluster. Error: Already used VM UUID: <VM UUID>. Return value 114. Failed to create an instant access virtual machine (VM). (4004) | Before creating an Instant Access VM, the system checks if the VM UUID already exists in the Nutanix cluster. If it does, the recovery fails. Workaround:
|
Failed to create an instant access virtual machine (VM). Error details Only the Red Hat Enterprise Linux and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server operating systems are supported. | Instant Access currently supports only RHEL and SLES. If you try to recover unsupported operating system VMs, it fails. Recommended action: Use traditional full restore for media server with unsupported operating systems. |
Failed to create an instant access virtual machine (VM). Specification for create VM cannot be prepared, as RetainMacAddress and RemoveNetworkInterface can't be used together. | The API spec becomes invalid if both Recommended action: Do not retain the MAC address if the Network Interface Controllers (NICs) are removed. If the MAC address needs to be retained, NIC cards must remain configured. |
Failed to create an instant access virtual machine (VM). Error details Create instant access VM capability for Nutanix is supported from NetBackup 11.1 and above. | You cannot create Instant Access VMs with NetBackup 11.0.0.1 and earlier versions. Recommended action: Ensure that the restore is completed with NetBackup version 11.1 or later. |
Failed to create the VM in the Nutanix AHV cluster. Error: InUse: MAC address <MAC address> is in use: 18. Return value 114. Failed to create an instant access virtual machine (VM). (4004) | This occurs when the original VM still exists on the Nutanix cluster and the MAC address is already in use, causing a conflict. Recommended action: Ensure the original VM is deleted or powered off before instant access recovery to avoid MAC address duplication. |
