NetBackup 9.1 application new features, enhancements, and changes

The following list describes the new features, enhancements, and changes that are specific to the NetBackup 9.1 application. The application also includes the new features from NetBackup unless they are called out as exceptions in this guide. See the NetBackup Release Notes for more information.

Note:

To modernize our terminology, Veritas has begun to replace certain outdated terms with more current terms. This document now uses the term "primary server" instead of "master server." However, this version of the application software continues to use the term "master server." As Veritas continues to update its terminology, the deprecated terms and the new terms may be used interchangeably.

  • This release introduces support of the NetBackup features Universal Shares and Instant Access on media server instances. These features are available only on Flex Appliance 2.0.1 or later.

For more information about Universal Shares, see the NetBackup Deduplication Guide. Various workloads on NetBackup support Instant Access. For example, see the NetBackup Web UI VMware Administrator's Guide or the NetBackup Web UI Microsoft SQL Server Administrator's Guide.
