DFS
The DFS (Distributed File System) sub-tab provides a specialized view for managing and visualizing complex file structures that span multiple physical servers. This workspace is essential for administrators who need to oversee logical network paths and ensure they are correctly mapped to their corresponding storage targets.
The DFS workspace includes the following features and information:
Namespace Management: Provides a centralized view of all DFS namespaces, allowing you to monitor the health and configuration of logical folders across the network.
Folder Targets: Displays the underlying physical server paths associated with each DFS folder, ensuring that data redirection is functioning as intended.
Storage Utilization: Similar to the Data tab, this view provides metrics on the scale and size of data residing within the DFS structure, helping you identify high-capacity areas.
Path Verification: Allows administrators to quickly verify that users are accessing the correct file shares through the distributed system, reducing connectivity and mapping issues.
Using Search in DFS
To locate specific namespaces or folder targets within the distributed system, follow these procedures:
Search path: Use the search bar at the top of the table to filter by namespace name or physical server path. The results will narrow down to show only relevant DFS entries.
Items per page: Adjust the table display to show more or fewer DFS paths at once using the dropdown menu, which is helpful when managing large-scale enterprise environments.
Refresh: Represented by a circular arrow icon, this tool updates the dashboard metrics in real-time. Use this to ensure the Files, Size, and Sensitive Files counts reflect the most recent data collected from your repositories.
Download: Represented by an arrow pointing down to a horizontal line, this tool allows you to export the information currently displayed in the table. This is used for creating external reports or offline analysis of your storage, security, or activity metrics.
For granular info, click More Details. This pane provides a deeper look into data metadata, including specific file system attributes, access control lists (ACLs), and last-accessed timestamp that may not be visible in the main table view. It serves as a quick-reference tool for verifying object-level details without leaving the Workspace.
Note:
Cross-referencing to other sections is not supported within the More Details pane. Please use the main table of contents or search functionality to navigate to related documentation topics.
