About Information Governance Workspace
The Workspace tab in Information Governance serves as the primary navigation hub for managing and analyzing your organization's data infrastructure. It is designed to provide administrators with a structured environment to oversee data distribution, user access, and storage health across various platforms.
The Workspace is organized into four key sub-sections, accessible via the left-hand navigation pane:
Data: This is the default view, providing a high-level summary of all connected repositories, such as local servers, SharePoint sites, and cloud storage.
DFS: Dedicated to managing and visualizing distributed file systems and their associated namespaces.
Users: Focuses on user-centric data governance, allowing administrators to track which individuals are accessing specific data sets.
Groups: Provides insights into data access and activity based on organizational groups or departments.
The Workspace tab facilitates proactive data management through several integrated tools:
Multi-Dimensional Analysis: The dashboard provides distinct perspectives through Storage, Security, and Activity views. This allows administrators to pivot their high-level analysis from capacity planning to risk management or usage tracking, ensuring a comprehensive overview of the environment before diving into specific work-spaces.
Focused Path Search - Within the Workspace, a specialized search bar allows administrators to quickly locate specific paths or file shares. This search functionality is specifically optimized for navigating Data and DFS views, enabling rapid access to deep-level directory structures without manual browsing.
Actionable Telemetry: Selecting any item within the workspace triggers a detailed sidebar that displays real-time statistics, such as Inactive Size, Sensitive Files, and Open Shares.
Reporting and Export: Administrators can refresh live data feeds or download current views to generate external reports for stakeholders.
By utilizing the various views and telemetry data within the Workspace tab, administrators can maintain comprehensive oversight of their data environment, ensuring both storage efficiency and regulatory compliance across all connected platforms.
