Upgrading from prior version of SF on AIX 7.1 to SF 7.4 on a DMP-enabled rootvg
When you upgrade from a previous version of SF on a DMP-enabled rootvg to Veritas InfoScale Storage 7.4, you must disable DMP root support before performing the upgrade. Enable the DMP root support after the upgrade. If the AIX version is not supported by Veritas InfoScale Storage 7.4, an operating system upgrade is required.
To upgrade from an earlier release of SF to SF 7.4 on a DMP-enabled rootvg
- Disable DMP support for the rootvg:
For release SF 6.1 or later:
# vxdmpadm native disable vgname=rootvg Please reboot the system to disable DMP support for LVM bootability
- Restart the system.
- Upgrade SF to 7.4.
Run the installer command on the disc, and enter G for the upgrade task.
See Upgrading Storage Foundation with the product installer.
- Restart the system.
- Enable DMP for rootvg.
# vxdmpadm native enable vgname=rootvg Please reboot the system to enable DMP support for LVM bootability
- Restart the system. After the restart, the system has DMP root support enabled.
